The DeTour Reef Light is located in the south entrance of the St. Mary’s River,
at the connecting route between Lake Huron and Lake Superior. The present structure
was built in 1931. It was in service until 1963, one of the last lights with a keeper
on the Great Lakes. The DeTour Reef Preservation Society has been working since 1998
to restore the light.
