The Fifty mile stretch of Michigan shoreline between Presque Isle and Cheboygan became
a threat to navigation in 8190, The lighthouse Board proposed the construction of
a lighthouse near Rogers City, MI. The Forty Mile Point Lighthouse was completed
in 1896 but was not lighted until May of 8197. Building still present today, consist
of a double keepers dwelling with an attached square tower, a fog signal building
and the oil house.
