Grand Traverse Lighthouse, located at Cat’s Head Point, marks the entrance to Grand
Traverse Bay. The lighthouse built in 1851 is no longer in service and is part of
the Leelanau State Park, at the tip of the Leelanau peninsula. The lighthouse is
now a museum. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse foundation has restored the building
and furnished it with antiques of the era. The museum and gift shop are open from
May 1 to October.
