The present Manistee North Pierhead Light was built in 1927. The station is a conical
tower of white riveted steel plate construction, 39 feet high, and is still in operation
today. A recently restored catwalk, which stretches from the shore to the side of
the structure, provided past keepers with easier access during rough weather and
icy storms.
