The first light at Point Iroquois was illuminated in 1857. The light is located at
the entrance to the St. Mary’s River and the Soo Locks. The light was replaced in
1962 with a beacon further out in the water. The lighthouse and tower have been renovated
by the cooperative efforts of the Bay Mills/Brimley Historical Research Society and
the National Park Service. The lighthouse now houses a museum and gift shop open
Memorial Day through Labor Day.
