Stannard Rock is located 23 miles south east of Manitou Island and 55 miles north
of Marquette in Lake Superior in the major shipping route. Completed in 1882 at the
cost of $305,000. Because of its extreme isolation and hazards of this station few
keepers ever served here. It was fully automated in 1962.
