Sturgeon Point juts out into Lake Huron, creating a hazard to navigation. The lighthouse
and attached keepers dwellings were completed in 1869 and put into service in the
spring of 1870. The site is now a museum operated by the Alcona County Historical
Society, open daily from Memorial day to Labor Day.
